Children’s Pool La Jolla

Despite the name Children’s Pool Beach, this beach is not only for children. Everyone is welcome here. It’s only named as such because the water there is calm thanks to the sea wall that encircles the area. So it’s an ideal place to swim and to wade in and out of the water. And yes, it’s safe for children. Also known as Casa Beach, this beach is popular among locals and tourists alike. The beach also has a rich history and there are actually many things that you can do there. It’s also a great spot if you want to watch the famous seals of La Jolla shore. You should include a visit to this beach on your next visit to San Diego, California.

The existence of Children’s Pool Beach wouldn’t be possible without the efforts of a woman named Ellen Browning Scripps who was a rich resident of La Jolla during the 1920s. Back then, the beaches in La Jolla shores were very dangerous because of the cross currents. They are not ideal for children. So Scripps spent much of her life and fortune to keep the children in her community safe. She made a commitment to solving the problems of the beaches in La Jolla. With the help of a hydraulic engineer named Hiram Savage, she proposed that a crescent-shaped breakwater be built on one of the beaches. She submitted her proposal in 1923 but the project was only started in 1930 due to a variety of reasons.

The project was completed in 1931 and Children’s Pool Beach was finally opened to the public. The community celebrated when the project was completed. Unfortunately, Scripps wasn’t able to join because he was sick at that time. She died the following year. The children’s pool was Scripps’ gift to her community. Thanks to her efforts, there’s now a place in La Jolla where children can swim and play in the water. The beach is also one of the most popular places to go to in La Jolla. So when you visit the place, be sure to utter a silent prayer to express your gratitude to Scripps.

There’s another great reason to visit Children’s Pool Beach and that is to watch the seals. During the mid-1990s, seals began to visit the beach to give birth to their pups. But though the seals are very interesting to watch, their presence is not always a blessing. This is because many of the seals are not really friendly towards humans. They also make the beach unsanitary. But it’s a good thing that they’re not always there. So if they’re not around, that’s when people swim and wade in the water. But if the seals are there, then the best thing to do is to just watch the seals from a distance. You also need to know that people are not allowed to go to the sand from December to May 15.

When you’re watching seals, however, you need to be mindful of the water behind you. Be sure that you are ready to get wet because when the surf hits the sea wall, there will surely be a splash. You also need to be careful when you’re walking along the seawall. Keep in mind that it’s almost 100 years old already. The path is already uneven and it’s common for people to stumble a little if they’re not paying attention. So if you don’t want to accidentally drop your phone or camera in the water, then you better hold on to them tightly.

The protective wall makes the beach safe for children. It’s the reason why this spot is a favorite place for families to gather and spend time with each other. And even if you’re not planning to swim or go anywhere near the water, it’s still worthwhile to go to Children’s Pool Beach. It’s a great place to soak in the natural wonders of La Jolla. Even the seals are now a part of the beach. They give the beach a unique character. Even if you’re alone, it’s still a good idea to spend time at this beach. It’s quiet enough for anyone to contemplate or meditate. Going there is a great way to spend a quiet morning.
